Member Webinar: Preventing Hand Injuries
This interactive safety webinar begins with a brief presentation on best practices, behavioral habits and personal protective equipment for preventing hand, finger and wrist injuries in the aluminum extrusion plant. Injuries to the hands/fingers/wrists
are the most common injury to extrusion workers. Learn why the vast majority of these injuries are preventable and what actions and behaviors contribute to the main causes of this common source of injury.
Evan Neale, EHS Director at Service Center Metals in Price George, Virginia, explains how and why hand injuries typically occur and the roadblocks to changing
behaviors and mindsets that can lead to the main types of injuries to the hands, including cuts, burns, pinching/entanglement, crushing, and repetitive motion injuries that can cause disabling or permanent damage and how to prevent these injuries
from occurring.
A resource worksheet will be provided that you can take to your Teams to help spread the word on avoiding debilitating injury to the hands, fingers and wrists. After a brief recorded presentation, attendees in the Teams format will be invited to share
(non-recorded) experiences with hand injuries and near misses at their plant, in the hope that discussion of shared experiences will help change behaviors and arc toward a safer workplace. All hands on deck for this important hand safety session!
AEC urges you to share your hand safety challenges - shared experiences can guide new levels of safety for your team!
