South Korean Aluminum Company Sets Up Shop in Tennessee

ALUKO, the largest aluminum component material company in Korea, announced on December 18th that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for an aluminum production plant in Lauderdale County, Tennessee.

The new plant, which is scheduled to operate in March next year, is designed to invest 130 million dollars (about 179.2 billion won) to handle all aluminum production-related processes such as melting, casting, extrusion, surface treatment, and processing in one place. ALUKO Chairman Park Do-bong said at the groundbreaking ceremony, "We plan to continue our growth as the world's only company covering the entire process from aluminum melting to final assembly."

In March 2025, ALUKO completed the first plant in Jackson, TN, to manufacture aluminum battery module parts for electric vehicles.

Through this investment, ALUKO will operate an AI-based unmanned smart factory with an annual production capacity of 156,000 tons in the United States. As a result, it has the capacity to produce a total of 270,000 tons of aluminum parts annually at production bases in three countries: Korea, Vietnam, and the United States.

ALUKO Group will create 285 new jobs in Lauderdale County and invest $107.7 million to locate its integrated aluminum manufacturing operations in the former Tupperware building in Halls, Tennessee. Once operational, the retrofitted facility will further support and expand the company’s customer base across the electric vehicle (EV), solar energy, construction and building industries.
